چکیده
Pyrene is a very resistant polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) with four benzene rings that survives in the environment. This study was aimed at investigating tolerance of earthworms soil contaminated pyrene. The studies were performed by employing gathered from shady regions adjacent to sewage ponds as pyrene degraders eradicate soil. Numerous factors affecting degradation efficiency explored, including effects contaminant concentration, earthworm and ration, condition. highest removal (31.2%) shown condition mixed cow dung. decomposition inhibited during sterilization due absence microorganisms indigenous pyrene-degrading bacteria. Nonetheless, are suitable for use

Ecotoxicity of a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH)-contaminated soil.
Soil samples from a former cokery site polluted with polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) were assessed for their toxicity to terrestrial and aquatic organisms and for their mutagenicity. The total concentration of the 16 PAHs listed as priority pollutants by the US Environmental Protection Agency (US-EPA) was 2634+/-241 mg/kgdw in soil samples. The toxicity of water-extractable pollutants f...
متن کاملActivity of Arylsulphatase in Soil Contaminated with Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons
An experiment has been performed to determine the activity of arylsulphatase in soil submitted to pressure of four polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons: naphthalene, phenanthrene, anthracene, and pyrene, in the amount of: 0, 1,000, 2,000, and 4,000 mg kg-1 dm of soil. Soil samples were also applied some organic substances, such as: cellulose, sucrose, and compost, in the amount of 0 and 9 g kg-1 dm...
متن کاملUrease Activity in Soil Contaminated with Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons
Urease activity was determined in soil contaminated with four polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs): naphthalene, phenanthrene, anthracene, and pyrene in the amount of 0, 1,000, 2,000, and 4,000 mg·kg DM soil. Organic materials – cellulose, sucrose, and compost – were applied to the samples in the amount of 0 and 9 g·kg DM soil. The experiment was carried out in a laboratory, and soil samples...
متن کاملPolycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon Biodegradation as a Function of Oxygen Tension in Contaminated Soil
Laboratory tests were conducted to determine the effect of soil gas oxygen concentration on the degradation and mineralization of spiked C-pyrene and nonspiked 16 priority pollutant polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) present in the soil. The soil used for the evaluation was taken from a prepared bed land treatment unit at the Champion International Superfund Site in Libby, Montana. This so...
متن کاملBacterial community dynamics and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon degradation during bioremediation of heavily creosote-contaminated soil.
Bacterial community dynamics and biodegradation processes were examined in a highly creosote-contaminated soil undergoing a range of laboratory-based bioremediation treatments. The dynamics of the eubacterial community, the number of heterotrophs and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) degraders, and the total petroleum hydrocarbon (TPH) and PAH concentrations were monitored during the biorem...
